Fragmentations From Humanity

Found vintage wartime photographic imagery is used as a vehicle to mirror the present, questioning the presence and role of humanity within the military industrial complex. These original photographs, violently ripped apart by a laser beam are transformed into shrapnel or boarder like fragments. The process involves piecing the imagery back together akin to a forensic or an archeological investigation, sometimes almost mimicking exploded views. These fragments are then balanced on brass; a material utilised over centuries in the production of munition shell casings; the brass rods are bonded into scorched wood, or presented in found vintage frames or contained within handmade wooden vessels. Work on this series began in early 2024 and is continuing to evolve.

Our past stares back at us echoing the loudest of silences through these fragmentations of time.
